Copenhagen em 2015

O poder autárquico de Copenhagen vai duplicar a verba gasta na melhoria (!) das confições para ciclistas na cidade. Com esta medida, pretendem em 2015 ser a cidade número 1 em "ciclabilidade" (temos que começar a inventar estes termos!) e sustentabilidade rodoviária.

Numa participação pública elaboraram esta lista com as pretensões dos seus habitantes:

A CYCLING MEKKA
Cyclists have conquered the streets
There are few accidents
There is room for both fast and slow cyclists
Cyclists get a tax break for riding
The main boulevards are now underground tunnels for cars.

INFRASTRUCTURE
Cycle tunnels under and bridges over the harbour
Bike paths all the way along the harbour, on both sides
Bike motorways straight to the city centre
Cycling allowed in all green areas (some parks are bike-free zones)
Three lane bike lanes for different speeds
Green Wave system on all traffic lights

LIFESTYLE
Trendsetting bike design
Bikes that symbolise who I am
Our City Bikes are gorgeously designed

EXPERIENCES
Beautiful routes with great views
More trees planted along bike routes
More bike events

SERVICE
Creation of service stations along bike routes where you can pump your tyres and charge bike lights
The City loans out free bikes
Free City Bikes to all Copenhageners
Free bike lights
Mandatory warning sounds on busses when turning

BEHAVIOUR
Cycling courses for locals and tourists

Isto para mim é simplesmente espectacular. E acredito que somos capazes de melhorar as condições para os ciclistas se nos juntarmos, se fizermos massa crítica e se estivermos mais no terreno.
Estou tentado e tenho estado a falar com amigos, em criar uma associação de "bike advocacy" como existe pelo mundo civilizado fora. Tentar arranjar um espaço físico, não só virtual, onde se pode conversar, convencer, voluntariamente arranjar bicicletas, aconselhar, enfim dar PODER a quem pretende usar a bicicleta no dia-a-dia. A minha cabeça anda a fervilhar e vou-me pôr a mexer para ver se tenho ajudas da junta de freguesia de onde vivo para montar um projecto deste género. Toda e alguma ajuda é bem-vinda.
